This code is usually only logged when the ABS using detects a running fault such as a missfire.Id clear them and see what happens.

It might also be worth resetting the learnt values in the z18xe control unit. It could be that the ECU has adjusted the fueling that much that its not sorting itself out quick enough. I cant remember but I think its under the special menu. Then once reset take the car for a nice leisurely drive for it to relearn.

Marks152 -Does a battery off reset doing anything on these ECU's ? I know it will create strange codes, but will it reset the learned values ?

Nope. It does not reset anything.

Before reseting the learnt values you need to ensure that:-

The ECT (coolant temperature) is at normal (warm, about 85 °C) temperature.
 The engine is not running.
Throttle pedal is idle position (Do not depress the accelerator pedal. )
Battery voltage is greater, than 11 V
There is no DTC stored in the engine control unit

Performing the Throttle Body Adaptation

 Select - engine
 Select - [Special function] button.
Select - [Reset learned values] button.
 Select -  [Start] button.

On successful Completion of the reset operation, turn the Ignition off and close the program down - Disconnect the Interface.

Outside: 231mm from the windscreen rubber to the hole in the roof.
It seems to lie a few mm in front of the roof carrier. More importantly, the cover on the inside seems to give a better idea- all me guessing of course.

Hi. I'm Chris from Surrey and just got myself a Mk1 Buss. I saw the club on Facebook so searched for it on Google so now I'm here too Smile My Zaf is a 1.6 Comfort (needed good fuel economy as I do a long commute) Ive already put a set of 18 inch alloys on it and have a badgeless grill and full JOM adjustable suspension sitting here waiting to be fitted :)

Turbo advice please

Hi all,
Im sorry to put up my first post as asking for help and im genuinely sorry if this gets anyones back up (I'm a member on some other forums and I know people can get quite irrate at this ).

I have a 2006 1.9cdti. Have owned it for 4 years and sorry to say, this particular car has been a complete thorn in my side since I drove it off the forecourt! The list of problems seems endless, but luckily im a fairly competent DIY mechanic so do most of the work myself!

Heres the latest one! - I was driving home Friday, the engine starts whining, car loses power - completely gutless, and it starts billowing out blue smoke all over the motorway.
Im almost convinced the turbo is knackered, but have no experience with turbos at all. The whine noise is right (same noises heard on youtube) and I think im right in saying that if the turbo oil seals are gone, it would leak oil directly into the combustion chamber which would be consistent with the loss of power and smoke.
Anyone got any advice or pointers for me please? Taking it to a garage isn't an option (cash is tight).
Anyone point me in the direction of cheap parts or unit repairs?
Please don't be afraid to point out the obvious, as I say im a reasonably compitent mechanic but have no experience of turbo's at all!
Thanks in advance for your help!

Hi Ive had my Tourer for a year now and like the car but apart from a number of problems which include
  • Radio not recognising CD player
  • bluetooth phone prep not disconnecting
  • side impact warning on side mirrors showing on when there is nothing about
  • cruise control not working
  • theft attempt screen showing up
  • noise from rear brakes when rolling backward and braking gently
  • notchy drivers seat under backside
  • excessive tyre wear on front tyres
  • ECO stop start not working
  • side impact warning system not available screen showing on dash
  • traction control light coming on and staying on for whole journey.
and a couple of other, The car has been back to the dealership for each issue but i have been told that because it is not showing in the computer log and the problem had then cleared they cannot do anything about it. all of these issues have happened on more than one occasion and some of them i have given the dealership photographic evidence of the computer screen. they did have a recall on the brakes which was a damper which has cured that problem, and the car has done 13000 miles with the tyres down to 3mm which i thought was bad ( i am miss daisy),all of the issues clear after you stop the car and turn off the ignition.
Has anybody else had many problems ?? it is a 2.0 CDTI 165bhp Manual
i appreciate any imput
cheers

231mm, do you measuring at center position of the roof?
because the curved windscreen makes different distance.

That's a lot of problems on such a young car, if still under warranty I would go back to the dealer and insist they sort out the problems

I've had a similar problem, I have intermittant power steering however because they are no fault codes the just have me the car back saying they were no faults

I think dealers rely far too much on diagnostics these days

I would say that quite a few are safety related and need to be sorted out irrespective of the low mileage. Do not take no for an answer, go over their heads to someone more senior, and get it sorted before the milage is too high. Tyres could be related to traction control or aligment, no codes fore the latter though Confused

Hello, I repaired my turbo (zafira gsi 2.0 petrol) by just replacing the core. The manifold was fine as was the intake side. I got the core unit from kkk turbos on eBay. It was a brand new core and cost me less than two hundred quid, against over four hundred for the whole lot. Two years on, it's still sweet

There are two ways a turbo goes really; either the bearing wears and oil escapes or the vanes break/bend and get damaged causing a loss of boost. This will eventually damage the bearing anyway, causing oil to enter the inlet manifold, causing the engine to run on and self destruct. I have had engines go with both, neither are pleasant.
Take the pipes off either side of the turbo and check for damaged vanes or play in the spindle (it is very thin). if there is no damage but lots of oil, it is the bearing. If the vanes are damaged but have yet to score the sides, then a core replacement will do the trick. Not an easy job & sometimes requires balancing but if lucky, all will be good.

A second-hand unit with no major oil deposits may be the way to go however. (there will be some oil in any used turbo)

The red OAT, cheapest for some reason from a vauxhall dealer. For the man on the street anyway.
