Its a very common issue im afraid. The fuse box you refer to is known as a UEC. Its common with astra h and zafira b. It will need completely removing and cleaning.

It might need a new one. Sometimes if the corrosion is bad the only fix is a new UEC. Have you removed the 3 big connectors under the unit and soaked them in contact cleaner?
