has live data been used? I had a similar problem with my car started ok but soon the rpm dropped to around 600 with no throttle response at all, I used live data reader and my earth wire from the ecu to my maf was giving a reading of 1 which being a earth should be 0, I ran a temporary earth from the battery to the ecu and check at the maf reading was 0 car started and drove and now is all good apart from needing another new maf, ecu's on these are very common failuresdue to the placement of them, the heat can not be dispersed causing internal problems within the ecu, this coupled with wiring fault and sensor faults, it is well worth starting with a multimeter and testing for power where there should be power and a good clean earth
