Hi again Andrew... I'm afraid I get quite sceptical about garage assessments. In 50 years of owning and repairing cars, I've had a fair few garage "solutions" that have been really expensive but not always accurate... It may be that your traction control unit has gone, but as it's not a programmable item as such, a second-hand unit from a scrappy for around a tenner might just do the job for you. Or, if it's simply a matter of a dry joint on the circuit board, (which is more common fault on modern electronically controlled systems, than you would imagine) a knowledgeable, friendly electrician with a soldering iron could possibly get your existing unit working again, for the price of a pint only.
