The 1.6 EGR is fully electric with no vac pipes. In my experience its is not cleanable although you can try but ive had no success with cleaning. If you had opcom you could prove beyond doubt that the EGR was at fault even without fault codes. You can monitor feedback from the potentiometer built into the EGR and from this you can confirm is position in related to the command from the ECU. This is how I diagnosed it on my own car even though it had no fault codes. I blanked mine off with 4mm blanking plate and swung the EGR around the back of the engine and left it plugged in so there would be no error codes. This method only works if you can get the EGR working at room temperature.
The other thing that causes stalls on these is dirty throttle bodies. Again its a very easy job to remove it and clean it up.
