Hi again George... Before you get too depressed about the 'Limp Home Mode', have you actually had the error codes read? You need to get a diagnostic readout to point you in the right direction, because it is possible that any error codes in your ECU right now are old ones that you should clear out first. If you have your Radio Code to restore your radio after a battery disconnection, you could try disconnecting the battery for at least 24 hours, which should allow the ECU to forget any error codes it has stored in its memory, but you will have to unlock your radio when you reconnect the battery. If you want to do this yourself, without resorting to disconnecting the battery, you can buy an OpCom unit off Ebay for around £25. By using this with your own laptop computer, not only can you erase any existing error codes, so your ECU has a "clean slate" to run with, but you can also then read any new error codes that appear subsequently and act on them. There is a list of what the different error codes mean at the top of the Technical Section in this forum. The other thing you can try is to clean out the Swirl Valves in the inlet manifold, and check that they are actually opening and closing OK. They are supposed to be closed on idle, but open up when the revs pick up over about 1200 rpm, so the engine can breathe more easily. If they don't close properly when you slow down and the revs drop, you will get the spanner light coming on and it will go into 'Limp Home Mode'. Cleaning these out is a bit of a dirty job, but might just make all the difference. Good Luck! Cheers... Robin
