Subject: My new car - with a starting problem...

Dear all
I've just bout a zafira (a) 2.0 dti 54plate 66k
I've only had this car a couple of weeks. It's just started developing a starting problem, where I turn the key from cold and it just clicks - doesn't turn over. The ignition's on, everything looks ok, but nothing happens.
First time it happened I turned the key about three times, three clicks. On the fourth time it started perfectly.
It then worked fine for a day then did it again. This time I tried on and off for about 5-10 minutes - nothing. All of a sudden it starts perfectly again.
Once it's going it's fine, and it doesn't seem to happen when the car's warm - it has (so far) always started when we've been out and about. So far the problem only occured when the car's properly cold - for example having sat overnight.
Having just blown the budget buying the thing I'm very keen to avoid expensive repairs (who isn't?) so any ideas/advice/guidance would be very gratefully received.
Thanks in advance... ps I'm a genuine newbie so feel free to let me know if I've posted this in the wrong place!
