We have owned our 2005 1.8i petrol elegance for just over 6 months and has been great, initially was a little concerned re its oil consumption using about a litre every 700 miles but then read the book and it states it should use a litre every 1000km so on par with expectation.
Anyway a couple of weeks back it developed a hesitance/stutter when accelerating so took to a reputable but not main dealer garage, after some tests found lack of compression in a cylinder, removed the head to find it had burnt a valve - anyway authorised the work and £1129 later had the car back.
It is running beautifully but now using nearly as much fuel as oil! basically a litre every 100 or so miles - been back to the garage today and they are now saying its because the engine is worn having done 85K and have suggested I try using Forte Oil Fortifier.
Basically I am pretty sure something they have done is wrong but they do not wish to admit - any suggestions before I put my grumpy hat on and start getting stroppy!!
